People typically start to get into debt by building up a few thousand pounds worth of debt on a credit card.

Then, when they've reached their credit limit, they apply for another credit card with another provider; and/or they may take out a store card as well.

People can end up having many credit & store cards.

Then, perhaps because it's Christmas or a child's birthday or a family holiday etc..., one of the monthly re-payments get missed.

Soon this starts to become a regular event and it's at this stage that people finally realise they have a debt problem when they can no longer juggle the repayment demands of all their credit and store cards.
